Fashion Trends Summer 2013: Crop Tops

Hello Lovelies!

Crop tops are something I personally would never wear, but they have been reappearing heavily on the runway and have made it into the list of trends for this summer. I feel crop tops are the type of clothing that you have to be very careful pairing with other pieces because you can easily go from fashionable to appearing scantily clad. I personally am fond of bralets paired with flowy skirts or even a pencil skirt that covers more leg, you have to find that right balance of how much skin you are showing, too much skin and the outfit goes from fashionable to being inappropriate. Below are some pictures of crop tops that I think should just never be worn, most of them it's because of their print, others because of the shape.

Like always I love to show off celebrities rocking the trend, so below are some pictures of celebs wearing either crop tops or bralets. I absolutely love Miley's and Selena's ensembles.

Now onto showing you how I would wear the trend, today I have a couple different style outfits showcasing crop tops. What do you think of the trend? How would you wear it?

Fashion Trend Summer 2013: High-Low Skirts and Dresses

Hello Lovelies!

Today I am going to discuss the trend of high-low hemlines or what some call dip hems...

At first I wasn't sure if I like the idea of having a skirt or dress that was shorter in the front and longer in the back, I also wasn't sure if they would flatter my body shape, but I have quickly grown to love the style. High-Low dresses and skirts are basically the mullet of the clothing industry, except they look much better. As some of you may know I am quite the curvy gal and some styles I know just don't work for me, so, I make sure I try everything before I buy, so when I was shopping last I tried quite a few dresses with the high-low hemline and as long as the dress had some type of emphasis on the waist they looked fabulous.

Below are some examples of some dresses and a skirt with the high-low hemline that are just terribly shaped, or the print makes the style too overwhelming. Like I said above I believe the shape of the high-low hemline pairs best with some type of emphasis on the hemline.

Fashion Trends Summer 2013: Overalls, Holographics, and Lucite

Hello Lovelies!

Since it is Saturday and it's the first day of June today's summer fashion trend discussion is going to be extra special! Today I decided that I would discuss all of the summer trends I absolutely despise and feel shouldn't be a trend.

My first hated trend for summer is overalls. I feel overalls should only be worn by farmers, and small children, and they deserve no space in the fashion world. Although some women do like "cute" in them they just are not fashionable in my opinion. Below are some pictures of celebrities wearing overalls. The shape of overalls are just not flattering to a women's body, they either appear too baggy on us such as Heidi's overalls, or they kind of make us look like a giant child like Jennifer's overalls.
Overalls also have nearly the same effect as mom jeans on the butt and they also tend to give that look to the front to.

Next up on my list of hated trends are Lucite heels. In the past Lucite heels were always associated with strippers and now all of a sudden they are being listed as a trend for this summer. For one I don't see anyone going out and about wearing Lucite heels because majority of the heels you find that have Lucite incorporated in there design also include at least a five inch heel. Another reason I hate Lucite heels is because even though some of them are worth thousands of dollars they just all tend to look cheap to me. Beyonce recently wore a pair of Lucite heels out and about in London and the tabloids of course jumped on it, and because of the way the light reflects off of the clear plastic it was rumored that her shoe had a dead fish inside of the heel, which is just ridiculous. Below are a couple pictures of celebrities wearing Lucite heels, which were kind of hard to find, while searching for celebrity photos I kept coming across photos of Shauna Sand (playmate) whom seems to live in Lucite heels and tiny dresses. Also are some examples of Lucite heels I found that I think would be great without the Lucite in there design.

Last but not least I want to discuss the trend of holographic accessories and clothing. I believe this trend is very high fashion and I can see it worn on the runway well, but I don't see it translating well to the real world, unless you are a huge fan of raves. Before I continue on I do want to state that I love the trend of holographic nail polish, and I owned a pair of holographic sneakers as a child in the 90s (my mother picked them out). When I think of holograms/holographics I think of spaceships, aliens, and other futuristic things and I think a lot of other people are right there with me. Below are pictures of some pieces with the holographic design, what do you think of the trend?

My First Makeup Contest Win!

Hello Lovelies!

Well.... I was about to lay down for the night and I had this sudden urge to check my stuff (social media) before I headed to bed, and boy am I glad I did. I popped onto Facebook to find out that I won first place in the advanced category for a pinup contest held by SexyLuna Makeup and Groovy MiMi. Considering pinup is kinda sorta my thing I am super excited because I have never really won anything, I did get third place in a pinup contest awhile ago held by a company out of Chicago though.

I now am so excited that I really don't think I can sleep, but I know I have to at least lay down so I plan on watching something on Netflix. Before I head off though I am going to share a photo from the pinup "shoot" that I did for this contest. Then tomorrow, technically later today, I will be posting Day Four of my Summer Fashion Trends and possibly a makeup tutorial, so please stay tuned!

Fashion Trends Summer 2013: Midi Skirts and Dresses

Hello Lovelies!

Since I am a fan of vintage styles it should be very obvious that I do love midi skirts and dresses, but it is still very easy to find midi's that are of terrible taste and ill-fitting. Below I have some examples of midi skirts and dresses that have either terrible prints, or are oddly shaped. Not all prints work well on all shapes of clothing, some of these prints may work well for other pieces, but paired with the midi shape they just don't flatter.

Before I move onto my examples here are a couple pictures of celebrities sporting midi skirts and dresses and looking beautiful.

Below are some examples of how I would wear midi dresses and skirts. I absolutely love vintage reproduction midi styles, and would love to fill at least half my closet with them. Some people tend to think that midi's are for older women, but it all depends on the style and the print, choose the right one and they can be very fashion forward.

Fashion Trends Summer 2013: Polka Dots

Hello Lovelies!

We are finally onto the trend of polka dots, which I happen to love and own a lot of. Being a fan of retro clothing/rockabilly/psychobilly polka dots are a key part of my wardrobe and I sport them I'd say at least once a week in some way. I own polka dot undergarments, headbands, bandanas, tops, skirts, shoes etc. At this point it is very simple to find pieces adorned in polka dots in pretty much every store, but there are still some pieces that are just not fashionable due to shape of the piece, and sometimes size of the polka dots, such as the examples below. A key factor in looking great in polka dots is choosing the correct size polka dot for your body, and choosing pieces that properly fit. The pieces in the "how not to" category are there because of either the shape, the concept of the piece, or because they easily make you look entirely too much like a dalmatian.
