Trends: three I like and three I just don't get

Contrary to what you might think, I generally do not follow trends. I'm not a particularly trendy person at all. Of course, if there is something trendy that I like I go right ahead and get it but I don't buy things just because everyone else has them. Though recently, certain recurring trends have caught my eye. Here are three I really like, and three I find utterly pointless:

Gold watches: I had been on the hunt for the perfect watch for probably about a year until I found this beauty. I am in love.

Source
Who needs a man when you can just have a man-watch?

Crosses: Is it me or has everybody suddenly become enraptured by this religious symbol? I am not even a Christian and I get offended by how the cross has become a mere fashion item. It's everywhere, and half the time it's upside down, I mean WTH? I don't care if I'm taking this "too seriously", the reality is is that even of you're an atheist you can't deny that the cross used to be used to torture and kill people. How is that now a fashion statement?
Source

Evil eye jewelry: It may not actually have any protective powers but the eye certainly looks pretty good on jewelry.
Source

Creepers: I don't care how much of a hipster you are. You can instagram all the filtered, weird-angled pictures of them you want but just remember that no one, NO ONE can make those fugly things look good. Got to be the worst trend since jeggings.

I refuse to credit the source.

Loafers: Love them! Everyone should own a pair. Or two.

Source

The "What's in my bag?" tag: This isn't a fashion trend per se but it's certainly a YouTube trend that I find unbelievably pointless. Have I missed something here because I simply don't understand who would care what's in some random person's handbag? These videos can be longer than 20 minutes of someone just pulling crap out of their bag and then explaining everything in mind-numbing detail. Don't they feel a bit silly sat in front of a camera filming it, what if someone randomly walked into their room..? The whole thing would look ridiculous. I mean I've actually seen someone pull out a legit sanitary pad and then explain why she carries it. WOWOWWWOOW.

E.L.F Cosmetics Review: Lips, Zit Zapper & Nails

In this post I will be finishing the review on products from E.L.F Cosmetics by category.

Lips:

Studio Lip Stain

On one end there is the stain applicator, on the other is a gloss applicator. The gloss itself it very sticky, I always opt out of using it, and go for a different gloss I own. The stain I do like, it is quite long lasting and it does have a pretty good color. E.L.F offers this stain in seven different colors, they are:
Birthday Suit - A pale shade of pink
First Date - A medium shade of pink ( this is the one I own )
Fashionista- A hot pink shade
Mysterious - A nearly nude shade
Lucky Lad- A peachy shade
Bombshell- Another shade of pink
Red Carpet- A shade between red and purple, definitely like this shade

Hypershine Gloss:

They offer this in nine different shades, ranging from nudes, to girly pinks. I own this gloss in Sugar Plum, I have used it once and quickly removed because it is very sticky and doesn't smoothly go on. It does have a nice flavor to it and they are all cotton candy scented.

Fairy- A barely there shade of pink
Bubblegum- A shade of pink
Berry Cherry- A shade between pink and purple
Mauve- A very light shade of purple
Blossom- Another shade of pink
Joy- Another shade of purple
Flirt- A nearly nude, slightly pink shade
Sugar Plum- A very purple shade
Cloud Nine- A white/clear shade
Honey- A golden shade
Vixen- A very bright peachy pink shade
Bare- A nude shade

Glitter Gloss:

They offer this in 8 different shades, I am not a huge fan of glitter gloss, it is a product I think is meant for teenagers or tweens. I own this in Golden Glitz, it was a free item with one of my orders, and I think it is very chunky and sticky.

Golden Glitz- A shade of gold
Glam Guava- A light shade of  peachy pink
Twinkle Pink-A light shade of pink
Fuchsia Fireworks- A shade of fuchsia
Bronze Bling-A shade of peachy bronze
Sparkling Wine-A light shade of purple
Crystal Cranberry-A hot pink shade
Dazzling Diamond-A nearly clear shade

Matte Lip Color:

Offered in six amazing different colors. I absolutely love them. They are long lasting and great quality, I wore mine through eating, and drinking, and a full day of work, and didn't even have to touch up. It also very easy to apply evenly. I would recommend this to anyone who loves wearing color on there lips.

Coral- A light shade of coral
Natural- A nearly nude pink shade
Tea Rose- A rosy shade of pink
Praline- A light shade of pink
Nearly Nude- A very good nude shade
Rich Red- A vivid red shade, this is the one I own and I love it.

Tools:
Zit Zapper
A friend recommended I try this product because it worked for her and I have a little bit of acne at the moment. The zit zapper comes in a roll on applicator and is a clear formula, that contains salicylic acid, tea tree oil, witch hazel and camphor. The zit zapper is meant to prevent acne, reduce redness and swelling, minimize pore size and clear skin. I have been using this product for the past 3 weeks, I breakout between my eyebrows and on my cheeks mostly, but I also have dry/sensitive skin. For me this product does reduce redness and swelling but it also makes the spot even dryer, but I think it would work perfectly for someone without sensitive/dry skin.

Nails:

Matte Finisher Clear Nail Polish

I received this product with my $20 free gift bag and I was excited to see it in there and to try out the matte nail trend. I tried the matte nail polish over a teal nail polish from Color Club and I did love the effect it gave my nails. The smell of the polish itself was nearly unbearable, it actually made me gag a bit, so if you are someone who is sensitive to smells I would not try this or at least be in a room with open windows and lots of air movement. I also noticed that the matte finisher made the nail polish very difficult to remove, I had to scrub for nearly 30 minutes to remove it all. In the end of it all I will be using this polish again, because I did like the look it gave my nails.

E.L.F Cosmetics Review: Eyes & Brushes

Today I will continuing my review of E.L.F Cosmetics, and I will also be breaking down this post by category. If there are any products you have questions about, even ones I do not have posted here either comment below or email me at briannagrim@gmail.com and I will be sure to get back to you.

Eyeshadows:

 Single Eyeshadow

They offer this in 15 different colors, I myself own the Totally Teal Single Eyeshadow. I absolutely love this color! The eyeshadow is highly pigmented and works well.

Eyeliner:

Essential 3-Piece Liquid Liner Set

They offer this in two different color schemes, I own the black/silver/brown collection. I thought this eyeliner was too watery, it didn't leave a fully colored line in the first try, to use it I either had to set it with shadow or go over it many times. It also became flaky after wearing it for a couple hours. I would not recommend this to eyeliner lovers.

Brushes:

Single Smudge Brush

I have not used all of the brushes I have acquired from E.L.F but so far I think they are very cheaply made. The end pieces of some are falling off on a couple during the first use. They can work for a starter brush set but I would recommend spending more money to get a better brand of set because the brushes make a huge difference. The smudge brush pictured below is one of my favorite brushes and so far I have had good luck with it staying together.

http://www.eyeslipsface.com/makeup/eyes/eye_brushes

Essential Professional Complete Set of 12 Brushes.

This is a good starter collection but once again I think they are cheaply made and  some fall apart way too quickly.

The set comes with:

  • Concealer Brush
  • Blush/Bronzer Brush
  • Foundation Brush
  • Blending Eye Brush
  • Smudge Eye Sponge
  • Eye Liner Brush
  • Total Face Brush
  • Defining Eye Brush
  • Eyelash & Brow Wand
  • Lip Defining Brush
  • Brow Comb & Brush
  • Eye Shadow Brush

E.L.F Cosmetics Review: Sets & Palettes

Today I will be reviewing some products from E.L.F Cosmetics, www.eyeslipsface.com , I will be breaking my reviews down by category, because I do have a good sized collection. I am not affiliated with E.L.F Cosmetics in anyway, but they are a cheaper option for makeup. Some products I have purchased from them are absolutely amazing, and others I wouldn't recommend. I will be updating this post every time I purchase a new item from E.L.F. One of the main reasons I have acquired a lot from E.L.F is because they offer so many deals, just sign up and wait and you will be sent details on deals at least once a week.
    Sets & Palettes:

    144 Piece Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette

I absolutely love this palette! It has a wonderful selection of good quality color.

    32 Piece Eyeshadow Palette

They offer this palette in warm and cool colors. I myself own the cool colors palette. I received this palette when E.L.F was running a deal where you purchased $20 worth of product and received a bag with another $20 worth of product for free. I have not used this palette yet, but I do like the selection of colors, I will update this when I try it out.

    141 Piece Master Makeup Collection

I bought this along with the 83 piece essential makeup collection, and the 27 piece mini makeup collection when E.L.F was a running a deal for all three for around $35. I think this could be a great gift for the aspiring makeup artist.

    This comes with:

    • 84 Eyeshadow Shades (good selection of various colors)
    • 36 Lip Gloss Shades (not a fan of these types of glosses)
    • 6 Blush Shades
    • 4 Concealer Shades (dislike)
    • 4 Shimmer Cream Shades
    • 4 Bronzer Shades (too dark of bronzers for my skin tone)
    • 1 Face Brush
    • 1 Lip Brush
    • 1 Duo Eyeshadow Applicator

    83 Piece Essential Makeup Collection

As I stated above I received this with a deal I could not pass up. This collection would also make a good gift for the makeup lover or aspiring makeup artist.

    This includes:

  • 64 Eyeshadow Shades (good selection of colors)
  • 8 Lip Gloss Shades (once again, I dislike this type of gloss)
  • 4 Blush Shades
  • 4 Bronzer Shades (once again, too dark for me)
  • 1 Lip Brush
  • 1 Eye Brush
  • 1 Face Brush

    27 Piece Mini Makeup Collection

So far I have actually used this collection the most out of the three, it is small and easy to store and could easily be used for some travel.

    This includes:

  • 9 Eyeshadow Shades
  • 1 Cream Eyeshadow Shade ( not a fan of the cream shadows)
  • 1 Blush (all around good color for such a small compact)
  • 1 Bronzer
  • 10 Lip Gloss Shades
  • 1 Brow Powder (love)
  • 1 Eye Liner Pencil (personally not a fan of liner pencils, I use liquid)
  • 1 Dual-ended Eyeshadow Applicator
  • 1 Face Brush
  • 1 Small Precision Lip Brush

    Organizing Hair Accesories

Good Afternoon! When it comes down to taking care of  hair accessories I have a lot to organize. I myself have a massive collection of clips, bows, hair ties, bobby pins and other things, and I also have a 1 year old daughter with tons of little bows, clips and rubber bands. In the past couple of months I have been working on finding ways to organize all the clutter that comes with having two females in the house, sure my daughter is only one at the time, but she still has quite the collection, and we also have a small apartment, so I would like to share with you the ideas I came up with not only for my accessories but for hers also.

Some of these storage ideas are from items you may find in your home already, others are quick buys and I will have links to www.walmart.com for each item. ( I work at Walmart, so I will just use them, but these products can easily be found else where. )

    1. Old Tic Tac containers work wonderfully for holding bobby pins.

    2. Old picture frames work great for holding either hair clips or hair bows, it just takes a little bit of ribbon hot glued on and a couple minutes out of your day. This is one thing I did do with my collection, I have all my hair flowers and big bows attached to it, I used an old black frame and some black and white polka dotted ribbon.

    3. Old storage containers from your kitchen also work well, I have many containers in my kitchen that I just don't use because they are so small that they don't hold much, I received them as gifts when I moved into my first apartment. They work great for hair ties, rubber bands, and small clips.

    4. Craft compartment utility boxes also work well for small clips, and hair ties, you can typically find them in the craft section of many stores. They make them to hold buttons, and beads, so they work great for the small items you have to store.

    5. Over the door shoe organizers also work well to hold big collections, you can divide up your collection by hair ties, clips, bows, flowers and all other sorts and have a pocket for each, if you have extra pockets you could also store all your hair product there too. (Such as your gel, mousse, hair spray etc.)

    6. 3 or 5 Drawer Organizers also work well, I am also using this currently in my home, I have all of my hair ties in the top drawer, second drawer is for small hair clips, and third is all of my daughters hair ties, and rubber bands.

    7. Shower curtain rings work for holding any type of hair ties.

For now I will be ending at 7 different ideas, I may be updating this again in the near future, but my son requires my attention as of now, I hope that this blog will help you tackle your clutter and I will be posting a blog about organization of your lotions, washes etc in the next week. Thank you :)

    Career Choices

Everybody gets to a point in their life when they have to make a decision that will probably change the rest of their career forever. I am currently surrounded by people who are not only making this choice but are showing tremendous passion for what they want to do. And that's great, fantastic actually. But it leaves me wondering why I don't have a passion for my future career. My heart is not set on anything at all. How sad is that?

Actually it's quite horrific, because I was thinking the other day that if I were to be 100% honest in any future job application I fill in, when asked why I am interested in working for their particular company, I would stick in a photo of the following:

    Source

Yep, I definitely have my career priorities right..

But seriously, do you think that someone can be happy in a job without being passionate about it? Because if not, I am clearly destined to a life of misery, with or without a 370z.
