May Ipsy Bag "Spring Fling"

Hello Lovelies!
I received my May Ipsy Bag two days ago and once again will be reviewing the products. The theme of this month's bag is of course "Spring Fling" and it's filled with products that are good for looking good in spring/summer. I also noticed that it seems a lot of people received different products this month which makes it kind of fun for us bloggers. I absolutely adore the print of the bag this month, it is bright, colorful, and fun.
My favorite product this month is the Moondust eye shadow in the shade of Space Cowboy from Urban Decay. I received this as an extra because I am an active member of the Ipsy community. This shade is a light champagne color with TINY flecks of silver glitter and has quickly become a favorite in my makeup collection. The collection of Moondust shadows consist of six different BEAUTIFUL shades that I would love to own. From the container the Moondust appears to be a cream, but it actually is a powder and applies easily and looks wonderful. These little shadows are $20 each from Urban Decay which makes this $10 Ipsy Bag so worth it. Below is a look I created using the Moondust, and a brown shadow, called Roo, from RoseMarie Shadows.
I always love adding new lip products to my collection, especially in red/pink shades like this one from Mirabella called Posy. Posy is a color sheer lipstick and applies very lightly and provides about as much color as a tinted lip balm, but it does go on smoothly and lasts long.  For $22 I would much prefer to purchase a tinted lip balm to wear if I wanted this little color, but if price doesn't matter I think these would be a nice everyday lip product.
Juice Beauty  is a great company that offers organic alternatives for cosmetics such as this pink reflecting gloss. The gloss itself smells wonderful and is quite moisturizing but I do have a little thing against the texture that comes with it being an all-natural product. I can get past the issue with the glosses texture, but I can not see myself paying $15 for the gloss although it's organic.
When I first opened the little box I wasn't sure what to think of this color of polish from Zoya called Blu. Obviously pastels are part of the trend for this spring/summer but being as pale as I am some shades just don't work well for me and this seems to be one of them. Although I am not a huge fan of the shade personally I do like the color and the polish is wonderful. I created the look pictured below using two coats of Blu topped with a 3D accent bow from Kiss Nail Designs. These polishes can be found on the Zoya website for $8.
I already have a love/hate relationship with this concealer from Yaby. I love this concealer because it provides great coverage, but I hate it because this particular shade Ipsy sent me isn't right for my skin tone. Ipsy sent me a shade called Buff which seems a little too dark for my skin I typically would have chosen the shade of Ivory for myself. I also dislike when Ipsy sends us refill tins, because I honestly just don't have a place to put them, one day I need to purchase myself a concealer palette. Setting the hate aside the concealer itself is quite wonderful, it is perfect to cover up flaws and applies smoothly. I also love Yaby concealers because they offer a wide range of skin tone choices. These refill tins are $4.85 each, but a full concealer palette from Yaby is $100.

This is one of those products that I will never be testing and I will be giving away to some lucky friend unfortunately.  As I have said before I love having an ivory complexion and do not wish to have a tan. The reviews for this Wash Off Instant Glow Lotion are kind of all over the place, mostly I see bad reviews from people with fair skin like myself saying it was too dark for them, but others say it is amazing. Although I don't have much to say about this product if you would like to try it for yourself you can find it here and the full sized bottle is $18. I wish Ipsy would really take the little quizzes they give us more into consideration so people like me wouldn't receive products like this, but even though I don't like this particular product this month's bag was definitely worth it.

In the end this bag adds up to about $80 worth of product (not including the price of the bag itself) and is obviously worth the small price tag of $10 and being active in the Ipsy community to receive bonuses such as the Urban Decay Moondust.

MOTD and Tips for Wearing Makeup in Warmer Weather

Hello Lovelies!

Today is an absolutely beautiful warm day, warm enough that I wasn't really feeling doing too much to my hair or wearing much makeup so I created this look.
I don't really have any plans today besides just hanging out with my little ones hence the simple braided pigtails and t-shirt. Here in my apartment in Michigan it is 85 and I am definitely feeling it so I wanted a really light makeup application today.

Products Used
Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam in 110
Urban Decay Concealer in CIA
Cover TruBlend Minerals Loose Powder in Translucent Fair
Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Rehab
Pixi Lid Shadow Pencil in Gilded Mink
Rimmel Pure White Soft Kohl Pencil
MARK Scanda-lash Mascara in Brownout
Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Blush in Sweet Cheeks
Too Faced Glamour Gloss in Sex Pot
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Makeup Tips for Warm/Hot Days
*Stay away from thicker/heavier foundations that will make you feel like you are melting. I like to wear either a simple BB Cream if my skin is looking great, or if I need a bit more coverage I go with Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam, it provides the coverage I need with a light and airy feeling.

* I ALWAYS wear an eye shadow base to prevent creasing and smudging, even if it is cold outside, but it helps out A LOT when it's warm out especially if you tend to sweat.

*If you want a long lasting application in this warm weather I recommend using a setting spray, I like Urban Decay's All Nighter Setting Spray.

* I also recommend a hydrating mist to keep your skin feeling refreshed, I love Juice Beauty's Hydrating Mist, you can pop it in the fridge for an extra boost of refreshment.

*Either choose products with SPF included or make sure you apply SPF even if you aren't in direct sunlight it can still cause damage.

*If you plan on heading near the water on your warm days make sure you grab a waterproof mascara, there is nothing worse than dripping mascara... Except for maybe an embarrassing bikini malfunction...

*Pack some Blotting Papers in your bag to help blot away oils without ruining your makeup.

Ulta Haul

Hello Lovelies!

On Friday night I got a little break from my regular schedule and got the chance to go get some dinner with my love at Buffalo Wild Wings. After our dinner I decided that I wanted to head to Ulta for the first time, I have shopped around online but before Friday I have never stepped foot in the actual store, which I like to call heaven. Now, I wasn't sure what to expect but if you have never been there and you have a fondness for hair and makeup you definitely need to make the trip. Before today I thought of Sephora as heaven, but Ulta has quickly became my favorite.

Before I get into sharing the items that I purchased from Ulta I must explain my hauls are going to be a bit different from a lot of beauty gurus. Now I follow a fair share of beauty gurus on Youtube and on here and a lot of them really go all out when they do hauls, and they spend quite a chunk of money, but I can't do that. Now, I am not going to give you some sob story of how difficult my life is because there is a lot of people in this world who don't even have what I do, but basically I am a young mother working to take care of my two children that has an immense passion for fashion and beauty. I am hoping some day I will be able to share my gift and passion with more people, but for now this blog, my Youtube channel, and my Polyvore account (it's almost like a dress up for adults)  is my way to do that.

Anyways, now onto the couple of products I decided I couldn't go without today.

I am a huge fan of a lot of products from Urban Decay and I have made many small purchases from them, and I have received samples, but I have always lusted after the Naked palettes, so today I finally brought myself to purchase one. Now it took me a little bit of wandering before I finally settled on getting Naked 2, I honestly want both, but I DEFINITELY can not afford that. I do love all of the different shades that both palettes offer, but I went for Naked 2 because of the shades called Blackout and Pistol.
I fell in love with Benefit Cosmetics  because of there amazing graphics and artwork and then I got the chance to try a couple products from them and that solidified my love for the company. Not only does Benefit offer wonderful makeup, but they have a spectacular like of skincare products for pretty much everyone. One of the first products I was able to test was the foamingly clean facial wash, and I have never came across a better face wash, so I decided I had to purchase a full size bottle of it. The Foamingly Clean Face Wash cleanses skin, removes makeup and impurities with a soft, gentle lather. I also love the Refined Finish Facial Polish, but I will leave purchasing that for another day.

Since I absolutely love cosmetics I have heard of  Too Faced many times, but because I am just recently starting to really expand my collection I have never purchased anything from them before. I know they are a good company and they have high quality products, but I decided to try this little sample set of five products. Included in this set is Lashgasm Mascara, Shadow Insurance, Glamour Gloss in Sheer Lilac, Lip Insurance, and Primed & Poreless. The Lashgasm works wonders at making your lashes look longer and it doesn't clump up, I wish it would make my lashes look a bit thicker though. I personally feel that an eye shadow primer is a necessary to create a sleek "flawless" look and I believe the Shadow Insurance works very well, my shadow lasted longer and I had no issues with creasing or smudging of my shadow or my eyeliner. I am not a huge fan of the shade of Glamour Gloss that was included in this set because I am so pale it didn't work well with my skin color, but the gloss lasted long, wasn't sticky, and had a pleasant minty sensation. Before I applied the lip gloss I used the Lip Insurance that was included in the set which helps create a smooth application that lasts longer and provides a good base for color. I feel the same about skin primer that I do about eye shadow primer, so of course I loved the Primer & Poreless which helps minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines. Overall this set is a good beginner set, sample set, or even a gift, that almost every makeup lover could easily enjoy.

I mentioned in my last tutorial that I somehow managed to lose my last brush for teasing and shaping so I picked up this simple and cheap one here. I use it to help tease when creating either pompadours (poofs), victory rolls, and when I am lusting after a more voluminous look.

After we left Ulta we decided to stop at our local Walmart and wander around for a bit because I had a couple simple things to pickup, and since I work at Walmart I get a little discount. Typically, when I am just wandering aimlessly through the store I tend to thoroughly check out the makeup department and I always stumble upon something I must purchase. This little palette here is from Hard Candy, and it's the Top Ten Eye Shadow Palette in neutral shades. All of the shades are shimmery and so far I have loved it. Hard Candy is definitely a cheaper alternative that has some decent makeup, I use the Glamouflauge concealer almost on a daily basis.

A little look I created with my purchases.....  (Check out the Marvel t-shirt!!)

Mini Urban Decay Haul

Welcome to a new year!

As you can probably tell from my previous makeup related posts I have quite a large makeup collection, it's not filled with tons of name brands like some of the women who run these types of blogs, but that's because if I can find a drugstore (cheaper) product that works well I would rather purchase that then spend the extra money on something with a brand name that works the same. Now typically when shopping online for makeup I purchase only when they have good sales or deals going on and this mini haul occurred during a sale that Urban Decay was having due to the holidays. I always recommend to sign up to websites such as Urban Decay, BH Cosmetics, Ulta, E.L.F, etc. because sure you may get some annoying newsletters sometimes, but it's well worth it when they have a good sale going on.  Anyways, they were running a sale because they wouldn't be shipping anything for a couple days and if you purchased during that time period you would receive all these extra goodies, so I decided to make a purchase so I could try some new items and review them for you guys, and it was also a little Christmas present to myself.

When deciding what to purchase from Urban Decay I couldn't think of anything I really needed, and I was also looking to try more than one item so I decided to go with the Mystery Travel Bag for $16. Pictured above is the travel bag itself, a simple clear makeup bag that meets airlines standards. I know from looking at the websites reviews a lot of people have complaints about there not truly being $45 worth of samples like Urban Decay says it does, but after receiving my bag and doing the math they are right even though it doesn't seem like it. I also found out that these "mystery bags" are not randomized so do not purchase more than one unless you plan on giving it for a gift because you will get the same items every time.

Included in the mystery bag is:

A full sized Lip Junkie Lip Gloss, which is sold for $19, in a shade called Naked. This lip gloss is the perfect shade to wear when rocking a nude lip, it's not sticky, and it seems to last for quite awhile. I would have much preferred to receive the shade of Red Light because a red lip is part of my signature look, but it's always nice to have some good nude glosses and lipsticks.

I actually received two of these travel sized Supercurl Curling Mascara, one with my mystery bag and one because of the little deal they were offering during my purchase. Packed inside this pretty gunmetal colored tube is a wand that has powers to separate your lashes, shape them, and boost the curl. The full size of this product sells for $20, it is a good mascara, and I adore the wand, but I feel I could find a drugstore product for half the price that would work just as well. (Travel size is $10)

This product came to me at about the perfect time, I decided I would test this on New Year's Eve because I had to have my makeup done at 7am before work and make it last until I was done having my fun after midnight. This exact All Nighter Setting Spray is only sold on the site in travel size for $12, and it is well worth it, I would actually buy a full size of this exact formula if they still sold it, but it looks like they have replaced the full size with a new one. The only thing I had to freshen up on my face throughout the day was my lipstick, besides that my makeup looked wonderful from morning till night. On a side note though, it did take a little bit extra time in the shower attempting to wash every bit of my makeup off, but it was worth it.

I typically do not use items like this 24/7 Eyeshadow Pencil, but I am always willing to try something new. I received this pencil in the shade called Rehab, which is a shade of taupe and works very well with my style. I read the product reviews for these eyeshadow pencils and it seems that the thoughts about them are kind of all over the place and it seems that certain shades have more problems then others. The number one complaint I seen on the reviews was that they became flaky at times, but when pairing this with either my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer or my NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow Base I have absolutely no issue.

Included as extras from the sale:

Before this order I had already previously purchased the 24/7Glide On Eye Pencil  in Yeyo, which is a pure white that I love to use on my waterline, so when I received another I was pretty excited. The shade I received is called Gunmetal and is a lovely silver color that I also tested on New Year's Eve. My favorite use for this eye pencil is to use it on my lower lash line when I wear a silver smokey eye, it is long lasting, highly pigmented, and smudge proof.

I typically dislike when I get little samples like this, because most of the time they are near useless, but I actually was able to create a wonderful look with this sample set. I used the Half Baked eyeshadow, Evidence eyeshadow, and the Primer Potion along with some other products from Urban Decay to create the look pictured below. The other products I used were the new Naked Beauty Balm that they are releasing to the public on January 8th, the Lip Junkie that I talked about earlier in the post, Rehab Eye Shadow Pencil, and the All Nighter Setting Spray.

I also received two more of these little Primer Potion samples that I talked about earlier in this post.

I discussed this product in my December Ipsy Bag and since then I have had even more of a chance to use this and I have decided I absolutely love it. This Naked Skin Beauty Balm, which will be released on January 8th, has become something I use every day to help create a flawless look.

Overall, even though a lot of people have complaints about the mystery bag I was satisfied with it, just remember to not purchase it more than once. This bag would be wonderful for someone who has never used Urban Decay before and is looking for samples, or to give as a gift.

Coming Soon...

In my next blog post, which should be completed within a week of this one, I will be sharing my favorite drugstore products.
